Hot Air Balloon

I wasn't aware Malaysia has hot air balloon until I read in a catalogue not long ago. So I quickly pop in to their website and check out the rates and made a reservation. It conducts only on the first Sunday of each month. I have got a very prompt reply from the person in-charge after sending the e-mail and confirm me with the date and venue. I was kinda excited and counting for the day.

The day has arrived and it was a lovely sunny Sunday, I woke up at 6.00am and get myself ready as participants need to register at 7am. Drove to Titiwangsa Lake and reach on the dot, not too early and not too late =)  But, I didn't see any sign of hot air balloon and I though I was at the wrong place.

Calling 012 xxx xxxx...

person in-charge : hello? (with a sleepy tone)
elaine : hello shannon, I am already in Titiwangsa Lake but I don't see anyone here. Can I just check whether I am at the right place?
person in-charge : hello elaine, I though I have sent you an e-mail saying it has been postponed to next week?
elaine : (god damn) oh? really? I didn't receive any mail...
person in-charge : Ah...sorry, I think I missed you out. Anyway, it has been postponed to next week. Sorry ah...
elaine : okay....bye bye!

So, it was another week of waiting and this time I was smart enough to ring her one day before to re-confirm. Another disappointment and once again it has been postponed. My excitement is slowing down week by week.

Finally the third week arrived and I received an instant message from the person in-charge:
Please be reminded that hot air balloon is ON tomorrow and remember to wear sport attire and cap. See you tomorrow!

Hooooorey!!

Okay, now I can go into the main topic after the crappy story. (of course you need to know what was going on before I can really fly in the sky ;)

This hot air balloon is not a normal activity that flies you up and down and say bye bye. They actually call it as Hot Air Balloon Crew Workshop where participants can have hands-on experience to setup and inflate the hot air balloon with pilot.

Tools used:
1. The balloon
2. A big basket
3. Gas tanks
4. Few long and strong ropes
5. etc..

This is how the guys setting up the bottom part of the hot air balloon

hmm, it's done and re-check to make sure it is safe to fly

Our pilot testing the fire. I never imagine it was that strong. You can feel the heat if you stand near

Taking out the balloon from a bag and making it flat on the ground

To inflate the balloon, we need to use a big electronic fan to blow in the air

We are almost there...

Tada! We have successfully fly it up!

The basket can holds about 4 -5 persons at once so it wasn't enough to fit everyone. We got to take turns to go up.

Left: It's my turn. There was only few participants so I got to fly up twice ^_^
Right: View from the top of the sky

Everyone tried and time to deflate the balloon

Berkerja-sama pulling it down

And finally the balloon is being packed into this red bag

Let the men show their muscle and we women sit aside goyang kaki with the breakfast provided

Interested? RM80 for the entire workshop which I think worth to give a try. Prior reservation is required.
